Retiree Perks

WWURA is one of the many ways WWU retirees can stay involved with the university and one another. Additional privileges available to retirees include:

Academy for Lifelong Learning

Inspired by the belief that a curious mind never retires, the Academy for Lifelong Learning offers educational and cultural programs and excursions in a pressure-free environment. WWU retirees can choose to be a student or teach in this fee-based, member-driven program.

Alumni Association

Retired staff and faculty are welcome to stay connected to Western through the Western Alumni Association. Network, participate in unique programs, attend events and help support Western students through scholarships.

Athletics

WWU Athletics is one of the top Division II programs in the United States. Retirees receive two free tickets to any WWU Viking Athletics regular season event upon retirement. Be on the lookout for new special WWU retiree season ticket pricing and special events opportunities.

Fine and Performing Arts

Retirees hold a special place in Western’s fine and performing arts. Retirees are always welcome to watch student recitals, theatre shows, music performances and exhibits. Western offers more than 300 performing arts events each year, and most are free to enjoy. Fill out this subscription form to be placed on a special invitation list.

Human Resources

WWU’s Benefits Office can continue to assist with the process of retiring and connect folks to helpful resources regarding medical, dental, and retirement funds.

Libraries

All retirees retain access to WWU Libraries’ physical collections but must have an active account with Western Libraries in order to check out materials. Additionally, retired Western faculty who maintain active WWU universal login credentials may have access to off-campus e-resources, Summit, and Interlibrary Loan borrowing services. Please contact library.circulation@wwu.edu for more information.

Parking

Employees who have officially retired from WWU are eligible for a no-cost annual parking permit. Call or email Transportation Services to learn more.
